and all the women who come after her"

Mexican Riviera Retreat

Together we will explore the ancient Mayan temples of both Tulum (to the right) and Coba(below) whilst learning about the customs and traditions of these ancient civilizations.

Climbing the 120 steps of the tallest

Mayan temple in Mexico at Cobá was on my bucket list for a long time and I have

to say standing at the top of this temple was the most amazing experience.  Coba, once home to more than 50,000 people and the capital of a thriving civilization some 1,500 years ago.  It’s one of the few Mayan pyramids still open to the public but it is uncertain for how long as local guides are encouraging people to visit soon before the access to climb is removed.

We will visit some of the most beautiful Cenotes in the world and swim in a mystic underground cavern consisting of crystal-clear waters and astonishing stalactites. Enjoy sun and sand on the beautiful powdery white beaches.

Temazcal (Traditional Sweat Lodge)

In Mexico, these sweat lodges are known as temazcal, which comes from the Nahuatl language of Central Mexico and translates as “house of heat.” Since ancient times, a temazcal ceremony is considered to be a healing and purification ceremony that cleanses the mind, body, and spirit

Sacred Meliponario Honey Ceremony

In Mayan cosmology, it was believed that Earth was held by four gods: The bacab of the east was the honey keeper. For the Maya, the stingless bee, or Melipona, was and still is considered sacred because its honey is medicinal and regenerative. Although the old method is still practiced today, the tradition and the beauty of the sacred Mayan ritual are disappearing. In an effort to keep these traditions alive, Xel-Há celebrates the Mayan ritual and the harvest of honey twice a year.  We will take part in a similar ceremony.

 Traditional Cacoa Ceremony

Cacao ceremonies have actually been around for thousands of years, originating all the way back to Mayan and Aztec traditions in Central and South America, used for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening and creative guidance. Pure cacao is used as a heart opening medicine for people to safely experience awakening, revelation and inner healing. Cacao is used in a sacred medicinal ritual, where intentions are set and once consumed, euphoric states are unlocked, negative emotions are released and we are able to connect to ourselves and the loving energy in our body.
